On June 23, Prof. Wang Jinding, Vice President of CELAP, met with Dean Tiff Macklem and Professor David Beatty of Canada-based Rotman School of Management. Mr. Liu Genfa, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Exchange also attended the meeting.
Prof. Wang Jinding expressed his appreciation to Dean Macklem and Professor Beatty for giving lectures at CELAP. Wang pointed out that an important aspect of the international program of CELAP is to invite speakers who are well-versed not only in advanced international concepts and practice but also in Chinese conditions. Dean Macklem said that the visit offered them a better understanding of CELAP’s achievement.The interaction with the participants in the classroom inspired them in China’s practice. Prof. Wang and Prof. Macklem both agreed to strengthen cooperation in financial supervision, corporate governance, pension management, and etc., and to enhance academic exchanges.
According to the arrangement, Dean Macklem and Professor Beatty gave lectures on “financial system regulatory structure” and “corporate governance in financial sector” for the Program on Deepening Financial Reform (12th cohort), which were highly acclaimed by the participants.
Professor Macklem has become the Dean of Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto since July 2014. Previously he served as Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada and Canada’s G7 and G20 Deputy. Professor David Beatty is an adjunct professor at the Rotman School of Management, and has long served as the chairman of the Peter Drucker Foundation in Canada, and a researcher at Nuffield College of Oxford University.
